Long R3 Variant — Extended Half-Life IGF-1 Analog
IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 Insulin-like Growth Factor-1) is a recombinant analog of human IGF-1 with an N-terminal 13 amino acid extension and a glutamic acid substitution at position 3. These modifications significantly reduce binding to IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), resulting in a substantially extended half-life compared to native IGF-1. This makes it a highly useful research tool for studying IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R) signaling, cellular proliferation, differentiation, and survival pathways in cell culture and preclinical models without the confounding effects of IGFBP sequestration.

Research Notes
Binds IGF-1R with high affinity, activating PI3K/Akt and MAPK/ERK signaling cascades. The LR3 modification reduces IGFBP binding by >1000-fold, extending biological activity duration in research systems. Widely used as a positive control in IGF-1R signaling studies and cell proliferation assays.
